Exploring the Schuylkill River Trail Part 1

Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone had a nice weekend celebrating! 🙂 Don’t forget to participate in my Instagram and Twitter 14 Days of Philly Photographs challenge by using #14PhillyPhotos! There’s just one week left, and I would love to feature everyone’s favorite pictures of Philadelphia!

Even though Philadelphia is a big city, there are lots of parks and open spaces! One place I really like going to is the Schuylkill River Trail because it’s very open and scenic with the Schuylkill River. It’s a great place to go running or walk Annika (and there’s even a dog park!). There are lots of beautiful buildings around it, too, so it’s pretty nice to see the contrast of city life with a more relaxing, green environment. It’s going to be even more beautiful in the spring!

The Schuylkill River has been calm each time I’ve been by, and it makes for some great reflection pictures

I can’t wait to go back and see the Schuylkill River in the spring! I’m sure it will be even more beautiful with flowers in bloom!

  1. I love that all of your photographs are in black and white. What equipment are you using?

You manage to capture a lot of beauty in the everyday (it’s something I’m striving to do with my own work). Honestly, when I lived in Philadelphia, all I saw was the trash and the decrepit parts of the city. Should’ve done what you’re doing and look for the beauty in it.

Thank you! 🙂 I use a Nikon D60 and just switch the pictures to black and white in Photoshop with a little editing. There is quite a lot of trash haha. That’s a big reason why I started trying to look at the beauty in the small things. I don’t know if you noticed why you were here, but there’s a ton of beautiful ironwork in railings and gates! It’s something I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t started photographing for this blog!
